The GLI 4′ x 8′ winter air pillow, part 500408AP, floats under an above ground winter cover and gives expanding ice somewhere to go, stocked under SKU PST-500408AP. As the surface freezes, the pillow compresses instead of the pool wall, and it crowns the cover so rain, snowmelt, and leaves shed toward the edges rather than pooling in the middle. Inflate it to roughly 60 to 80 percent, never to full capacity, so there is room left for the ice to push. A pillow is the cheapest piece of winterizing insurance an above ground pool owner can buy.
