6-Position Vari-Flo Control What Each Setting Does

Filter

Normal operation water passes through the D.E. filter grids and returns clean to the pool.

Backwash

Reverses water flow through the filter grids to flush spent D.E. and trapped debris out to waste.

Waste

Bypasses the filter entirely and sends water straight to drain used for vacuuming debris directly out of the pool.

Rinse

Runs water through the filter to waste after backwashing seats the fresh D.E. charge before returning to Filter mode.

Closed

Shuts off all flow through the valve used for service, winterization, or isolating the filter from the system.

Recirculate

Water circulates through the pump and returns to the pool without passing through the filter useful for chemical distribution or bypassing a filter issue temporarily.

This Valve Is for D.E. Side-Mount Filters Only Not for Sand Filters. The SP0710XR50 is a reverse-flow multiport valve engineered specifically for side-mount D.E. filters. It is not compatible with top-mount sand filters like the ProSeries S-series. If you have a ProSeries sand filter and need a replacement valve top assembly, see our SPX0714 Multiport Valve Top Assembly instead. Pro Tip Always Turn Off the Pump Before Changing Positions. Never rotate the multiport valve handle while the pump is running. Switching positions under pressure can damage the internal spider gasket immediately the single most common cause of a leaking valve. Pump off first, change position, then restart every time.
