Description
The Pentair R172653 is the OEM replacement 25 sq. ft. cartridge with plug for the Pentair Model 186 Leaf Trap series.
The cartridge is the primary filtration element inside the Model 186 Leaf Trap, capturing leaves, debris, and fine particulate before they reach the pump basket or impeller. The included plug seals the cartridge port during removal and reinstallation, preventing unfiltered water bypass. When the cartridge becomes clogged or damaged, flow restriction increases and debris capture efficiency drops replacing it with the correct OEM cartridge restores the leaf trap to full operating capacity.

Pro Tip
The Model 186 Leaf Trap was produced in four variants (186-A through 186-D) as well as under individual assembly part numbers (R211084, R211086, R211092, R211094). If you are unsure which variant you own, check the label on the leaf trap housing the model designation is printed there. All four variants use the same R172653 cartridge, so once you confirm you have a Model 186, this is the correct replacement regardless of the letter suffix.
