Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants they will degrade rubber O-rings. Verify the square profile against your existing O-ring before ordering; a round-profile O-ring of similar size will not seal correctly in this application.
